LumenVox and Teligent power IVR solution for British Telecom

March 6th 2014 - The LumenVox Automatic Speech Recognizer now powers voice applications running in British Telecommunications plc (BT), on BT’s Recorded Information Delivery Equipment (RIDE) system, one of Europe’s largest in-network call termination platforms, supplied by Teligent Ltd. part of the Teligent Telecom Group.

Teligent is a primary provider of voice service solutions to Tier 1 network operators in the United Kingdom, and their approach requires a scalable, reliable, and cost-effective ASR product to deploy inside carrier networks.

The voice platform used by BT is a customized version of Teligent's P90/e value added services platform. BT have used Teligent's solutions for approximately 15 years, primarily with the RIDE large scale customized voice platform which powers applications that demand incredible scaling when used as the call-in voting applications for television shows such as X-Factor or Britain's Got Talent.

After selecting LumenVox technology for its P90/e platform in the UK, Teligent provides speech recognition resources integrated for the Intelligent Call Manager (ICM) and Intelligent Network (IN) based IVR applications, which it has supplied on the RIDE platform.

In choosing LumenVox ASR technology, Teligent evaluated requirements including recognition quality, scalability and pricing model flexibility that recognized different IVR applications require different ASR functionality. In addition LumenVox offered the timely technical support service levels needed to meet formal turnaround and quality requirements.

"LumenVox offered great performance with an architecture suitable for integration into our existing development framework at a competitive price which has proven itself in live use since launch last year," said Adrian Foulkes, the Managing Director at Teligent Ltd.

The LumenVox ASR is a resource for the ICM and IN trigger applications that sit on top of the P90/e architecture, which is deployed in 40 sites throughout BT's network in the United Kingdom where the speech recognition is used in call routing applications allowing callers to speak digits and simple command words such as yes and no.

"Teligent’s speech recognition solution was delivered in a timely manner and has met our expectations since moving into live use," said Kelvin Silburn at BT Technology, Service and Operations.

"This deployment is evidence that the LumenVox products are suitable to meet the very high demands placed upon them by the biggest of carriers," said LumenVox CEO David Rich. "We look forward to a long partnership with Teligent and their users."
